Svetlana Alexievich, the Belarusian writer, has won the 2015 Nobel Prize in Literature for her “polyphonic writings, a monument to suffering and courage in our time.”
Alexievich was born on 31 May, 1948, in the Ukrainian town of Ivano-Frankivsk to a Belarusian father and a Ukrainian mother. After her graduation, she began working as a reporter in a local newspaper and began evolving into an extreme writer.
